The Pirate's Son

words and music by Udo Klopke

We sailed the nothern star, around the horn of Africa
across the endless ocean, tea and spice from India

beneath the open sea, the ghost of you is chasing me
push me to be the best I can, drown me in my tears

Under a golden sun, between the sword and the gallow
I was the pirate´s son, we sailed to wherever the wind blew

just like the waves we are, heading for some distant shore
we follow one another, each one better than the ones before

The places might have have changed, the ocean´s still the same
seems like the more afar I have sailed, the closer I have been

Under a golden sun, between the sword and the gallow
I was the pirate´s son, we sailed to wherever the wind blew

Lands and years have passed me by,
wounds been healed and tears have dried
we never been that close, sometimes I wish we tried

I saw your face last night, when everything was quite
a lonely moon was shining from a frozen winter sky

The places might have have changed, the ocean is still the same
seems like the more far I have sailed, the closer I have been

Under a golden sun, between the sword and the gallow
I am the pirate´s son, I sail to wherever the wind blows
